The Data Collection module, coupled with a third-party bar code solution, allows you to capture inventory transactions on the shop floor and update Catalyst. The interface handles uploaded data for shop order receipts, material issues, inventory adjustments, inventory transfers, and cycle counts. The inventory receipts, issues, adjustments, and transfers are used to update the Catalyst inventory transactions. The uploaded cycle count data is used to populate the cycle count items of the Cycle Count Entry screen.

The Data Collection module also supports the creation of bar code item labels for standard items, purchase order receipts, and customer order shipments. The interface provides the utility to export the data from these sources in a format that is then processed by label software and bar code printers sold through third-party bar code solution providers.

In addition, several standard reports have been included to support bar code printing on standard laser printers. The bar code-enhanced reports include the Shop Order Traveler, Cycle Count Sheet, and Warehouse Locations. Bar code fields have been added to support scanning of the shop order number, item number, warehouse, and location fields.
